Things to consider before buying Laptop For Digital Nomad

If you are a digital nomad and your work requires traveling, then laptop is the most important thing that you will need. Since laptops are essential for all of us these days so if you plan to buy one, here I’m going to show some tips for buying good quality laptop according to my experience.

1 .Processor or CPU (Central Processing Unit)

I think this factor should be on top of your list if you are buying a laptop because it is the brain of the machine, processor works as a computer and lot’s of heavy work will be done by processor so choose the one with powerful processor because laptops are used for a long time.

2 .Memory or RAM (Random Access Memory)

We all know that lot’s of programs will be run at the same time in our system so if the memory is low, we will get error messages. So consider buying laptop with minimum 4GB (or higher) RAM.

3 .Storage or HDD

We will be doing a lot of work on laptop and these days, we need to store a lot of data in our system so buying laptop with higher storage capacity is a must. Central processing unit or processor + memory+ hard disk drive or storage, all three things are essential for laptops so choose all of them wisely.

4 .Upgradeability

Most of the laptops are not upgradable so choosing such one is wastage of your money because if you will buy a laptop with low storage, and then after 6 months you need to increase the storage capacity but if your system is not upgradable, then there is no use of buying laptop with high storage capacity.

5 .RAM Size

If you are planning to change your RAM, go for laptops that have removable RAM slots so you can add or remove memory according to your needs. We always need more than 2GB RAM in our system and we will use 8GB or higher RAM if possible.

6 .Laptop Components

We all are aware of the fact that we need more in our laptops than just a processor. Lot’s of parts work together so be careful about your selection. If you can handle it yourself, then go for DIY laptop because these kind of systems will cost low but if you don’t want to deal with hardware things, then consider buying pre-assembled laptop.

7 .Laptop Repairs

You should always choose reparable laptops because if you want to save your money, you can take care of hardware problems by yourself. I suggest choosing laptops with removable RAM slots and HDD units because these parts are the most common hardware failures but other parts are also prone to failure.

8 .Operating System

Last but not the least, choosing laptop with windows will be wise and if you don’t like using Windows operating system, consider buying laptops that run on Chrome OS because these systems are faster than Windows. Most of the digital nomads prefer having Linux based operating system in their systems.

9 .Value

People who are not much familiar with technology world may get confused while choosing laptops because it is all about better specifications in cheaper price range. So to make your buying process easier, don’t spend too much on laptops and check how many things the system offers in low price range and then buy that laptop. All these factors are equally important so consider choosing laptops with all these things. Better specifications always mean better performance but only in high price range, in low price range don’t expect these things because you need to compromise on something.
